How Ironic.....

Sat Sep 15, 2001 5:44 am

...that in the face of this "attack on freedom" and Bush's pledge to "defend and maintain" freedom, the end result of this will be the loss of innumerable freedoms.

Anyone else see the sick irony behind this?

I've been seeing people on the news "welcoming" all of the new security and inconveniences.

Benjamin Franklin best summed this up some 225 years ago:

"Anyone who gives up permanent freedoms for temporary peace is deserving of neither liberty nor peace".

Farewell my friends.

Those 'lack of freedoms and inconveniences' has not stopped the growth of air travel, where there has been proper security for many years.
By that I mean everywhere else apart from US domestic services.
Nothing is certain to prevent terrorism, but you don't have to make it easy for them.

What's really ironic, and tragic, is that the majors lobbied sucessfully to prevent the upgrading of domestic security standards, to international standards a few years ago.
Including AA and United.
