New FAA Security Measures

Sun Sep 16, 2001 1:15 am

As you may of heard on the news, the FAA is applying new security standards for airports and airlines. I agree with most of these measures, especially the idea of armed skymarshalls on every flight. This is what El Al does, and they haven't been hijacked in my lifetime. However, one restriction only allows ticketed passengers to the boarding area near the gate. This seems completely ridiculous. How is it unsafe to allow nonticketed passengers to the boarding areas?
