How did you get the details? They weren't in the press release.
I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

Well, if you read a prior release, it says that United will "ultimately be up to 1,900 daily departures". For those of us who watch the industry, you know that United does about 2,370 some daily departures.. that's a loss of close to 500 flights, or an actual 23-25% reduction in flying. In order to achieve this, a lot of cities are

a. loosing service

b. going to toy jets

c. flying reverted to Star Alliance carriers, who ultimately have lower costs.

You can also read more in another press release on the international flying.. which I am told will not expand after those cities. Which leaves the named markets, which makes sense because Star partners already fly those routes.

Example: Lax - Mex used to have 4 daily United birds on it.. then 3. When the Star Alliance was announced, UA already had some agreements in place with Mexicana, including a pending Anti Trust agreement. Now look at LAX - MEX. 1 United flight (or was)... and 9 Mexicana operations.

See the trend?

Wow. They are ending Miami-Caracas? Caracas is to Miami what London is to New York City. That route is one of the ten most traveled international routes in the US.

I'm wondering the same as YYZ. Where did the information come from? It's not in the PR. I personally would find it hard to believe they would end MIA-CCS. Despite the troubles in air travel and Latin America's economy, Latin American flights, especially to CCS (and SCL, GRU, GIG and EZE, which happen to be the ones UA flies) are still able to fill up what matters, and that is first and business.

Yeah, Mah4546,

UA's JFK--HKG services has already suspended from September, but here in Hong Kong, you still can see United's advertisment on the buses, saying that
[Hong Kong New York Non-stop]......but actually it's gone.

Continental is the only non-stop connection between two cities, hope that it won't be affected by the tragedy happened in NYC. and keep up the good work.

It is a temporary timetable. Some temporary cuts:

FLL-ORD
MIA-MCO
MIA-CCS
MIA-DCA (with DCA closed)

And drasticlly reduced frequenices on many routes. MIA-ORD and MIA-IAD are down from 5 dailies to 1 daily. Trust me, that will not last. Miami has a severe drought of flights to Washington right now. From 15 daily to now only 2.

Are the central america routes gone for good or is it just temporary? UA has very good traffic on all those routes.

When will UA update thier computers? If they do plan on ending MIA-CCS, they are still letting people buy tickets on it for next week (not this week though).

Sorry for all these posts, but a quick glance at www.unitedvenezuela.com shows UA867/8 (MIA-CCS-MIA) re-starts Tuesday.
