Tue Sep 18, 2001 1:23 am

I am very doubtful. They will continue to be retired throughout 2003.

I heard, from an AA pilot, that this will speed up AA's 727 retirement. "Down to 80% capacity, get rid of the fuel burners first, cut costs fast..."

There are still a number of 727s on their interim timetable, e.g. LGA-ORD.

It's interesting how there are 763s on JFK-SFO. There is even a 763 doing the transcon from EWR, used to be just 757s.

Anyone know if the EWR-SFO 763 is a domestic or 3-cabin version?

I looked at UA's latest timetable,I noticed a few changes. LAX-LIH is now a 763,It's been a 752 since before I flew it in March. Also,no more 727's ORD-LAS as I took Sep 1st. My home airport,ROC,now has 2 less flights for now. No more 6am to ORD and no more midnight arrival from ORD. But our last ome in for the day,UA438 is still a 727 (wonder for how long).
God bless America

With American announcing that they will retire ALL 727s by the end of November, I imagine UA will plead with Airbus to make the A320 faster... "We'll paint them ourselves if you can just send us 20 a day."

But, in reality, I suppose that most of the capacity cuts could be made by eliminating the 727.

I think they're days are numbered, as unfortunate as that is.
I relaized last night that I have probably flown on my last 727 even, and I didn't even know it.
