Air NZ NOW Honouring AN Tkts

Tue Sep 18, 2001 3:14 pm

Air NZ is now HONOURING all Ansett Australia (090) tickets *including* Global Reward Tickets, for customers on 090 paper ticketed prior to 14 September 2001, irrespective of date of travel!

Subject to space availability, customers may be rebooked to travel over the same origin and destination on the Air New Zealand operated network. This includes customers holding 090 tickets with travel on -
NZ operated international and New Zealand domestic services, and AN coded international marketing flights operated by NZ

Customers already ticketed on NZ operated services, including AN marketing services, do not need to be rebooked.

 Smile
Hope this is good news for someone!

Mate,

In the interests of not trying to sound too cynical - did madam Clark put Air NZ up to this? As they have shown little concern before.

Any help is good though, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

It *will* be officially announced..soon  Big grin

The decision was made about 5 mins ago.

And MX - Actually, I think Helen probably didn't want the massive liability of AN tickets and rewards necessitating a larger bailout/assistance from the government, but apparently Air NZ fought tooth and nail to have them honoured.. and Helen's hand may have been forced by the fact SQ announced right from the start that they would honour AN tickets.

Anyway, I'm going back to work letting people know they can take those flights after all! What a happy job! I'm grinning all over the place again =)

Nice to see that, TG992, thanks for having us informed, appreciated it. Also thanks to Air NZ, for making the right decision and making the life of the stranded passengers much easier.

Yes, I agree Air NZ has a good heart after all...

Jimmy,

Let's not forget who has put AN passengers in this mess in the first place.

mb, come on, lets not start this again!

Agreed Ansett was screwed up by ANZ, but ANZ is not the only cause to bring down AN, right? There is a fair part that the AN management is also to be blamed for. As for me, i am a third person, i don't belong to Aus or NZ, but i sure have been keeping track of things, so lets me just say we all have this world to share.

For the time being it is a good move by ANz To honour AN tickets. Atleast we have some happy AN pax now.

Cheers,
Thomas.

It's disgusting it took them this long to even put out a press release.

The only good thing about this is the fact that Ansett Australia travellers will have their tickets honored - and bloody rightly so. This isn't Air NZ being nice, it's an obligation that no doubt they have been forced into.

No disrespect to any Kiwi's or Air New Zealand staff at the coal face. We know you are not responsible for what happened, but I see no reason to say things like Air NZ has a heart as we know they don't - to suggest that is to ignore the plight of the AN staff, associated companies, tourism in Australia, and a whole host of other associated problems with the demise of Ansett.

Sorry, but I will not give NZ an inch.

Too bad - I know for a fact that NZ has no legal obligation to honour the AN tickets. Social obligation maybe, legal not. I'm glad they chose to, however.

The press release was released about 45 minutes after the decision was made by head office. If that's disgusting, I despair.

I will now stop posting news, positive or otherwise, about NZ as it's invariably set upon and used as a vehicle for further one-eyed bashing.
For an unbiased view of why AN failed, check out Oz777's recent post regarding the unions. That's it from me as far as NZ news goes.

So what they honour people flying on their own airline so that the passengers return as more customers in the future.

THIS DOES NOT DISMANTLE THEIR REPUTATION.

I hope, no I really hope with the US and Ansett collapse ANZ goes bankrupt, so they too can be punished for their stupid arrogant mistake of taking AN on when they knew and were ADVISED NOT TO.

I also agree with you longreach rid the southern cross of the rubish of the pacific once and for all and lets see 9,000 Kiwis get a taste of what has happened to 16,000 Australians
