Non US Airlines Affected

Wed Sep 19, 2001 7:32 am

Which are the non US airlines that will suffer most with the present situation by continent ?

Asia - JAL ? Qantas ?

Europe - BA ? Virgin ?

South America - Varig ?

I have no idea about the dependency some companies have on the US market.

Air Canada is probably the most affected non-US airline. They are cutting transborder (Canada-US)capacity by 20 percent. It looks as if everything else for AC is okay at the moment.

A Mexicana spokesman said today that flights to the US represent 40% of their income. I don't know the share for Aeromexico but is likely to be as high. Needless to say they will be hurt.
