Gulf Air Suspends Peshawar Service

Wed Sep 19, 2001 10:04 pm

GF have announced that they will be suspending their twice weekly A320 service to the north western Pakistani city of Peshawar as of today for "commercial reasons" and that the service will be continuted as soon as the situation improves. GF operated the service from Al Ain in the UAE which hosts the largest Pakhtun(natives of the NWFP province in Pakistan and of Afghan ancestry) community in the Middle East, I feel it may be due to the city's close proximity to Afghanistan, its literally near the border, any info? I also think Emirates and Qatar Airways will follow suit especially if the prevailing situation worsens, perhaps GF-A330 knows more Smile
