I have given my thoughts about the attitude of the airlines through different posts.
I am very happy to see I am not the only one thinking that airlines and insurance company are just crying to receive money from their governments.
Ryanair CEO says about the same to Reuters.
Here are a few extracts:
"The people who need to keep the airlines flying most next week are the insurance companies. They would get nothing if the airlines were grounded."
``This will be resolved between the insurance companies, the governments and the airlines either today or over the weekend.''
``All the flag carriers are using this as an excuse to look for subsidies,'' said O'Leary. "This week our bookings are back to normal. They're back to normal at
slightly lower fares because we've opened up all the cheaper seats."
``The only way to defeat terrorism here is not to be standing there whingeing with your aircraft on the ground looking for subsidies. It's to get out there, with lower fares, and persuade people to travel more often.''
