The info I got was extremely 3rd hand, so I may be wrong. Either way, I think either the A321 or the 738 will be a good choice. While the A321 has the capacity, the 738 has the range. The A321 can easily do SYD-AKL. SYD-DRW and SYD-PER...it would have to depend on which version these A321's are (ie what the MTOW is). However, I expect QF to fly 763's from SYD and MEL to PER because of the lost AN capacity, even 744's, given the fact that they're being pulled off the US routes. The 738 gives better commonality with the current fleet, however, but in the long run, perhaps it may be better for QF to get the 321? We shall have to wait and see.
