UAL News From Operating Manager

heard last night at work that UAL's fleet of 727 and 737-200 a/c will see an early retirement....sad news for you enthusiasts......

727 fleet cut to slightly less than half by y/e 2001.

737-200 fleet retirement expedited. This means they'll be gone way before the 2005 timeframe. Who knows when? It is only a matter of time, but keep in mind that the 732's are paid off and don't have a flight engineer. They don't burn that much more fuel--note that their engines are just a little older versions than MD-8X series PW JT8Ds.

The only problems with the mini fat alberts are maintenance, due to their age.
