Egypt Air Suspend Flights To Karachi And Yemen.

Wed Sep 26, 2001 10:17 am

Hi:

Egypt Air, the egyptian flag carrier and one of the three majors airline of the Middle East announced that the airline will suspend temporarily to Karachi, Sanaa and Aden in Yemen for security reason. Egypt Air serves Karachi with two or four flights per week and once a week to Aden and Sanaa.
Also they will maintain the nonstop routes to United States (New York and Los Angeles). For now Egyptair is the only that serves the route between JFK and LAX to Cairo.

RE: RJ_Delta Question

Hi RJ,
Who was the recent-last US carrier to operate
to Cairo? Delta?? Didn't TWA operate JFK-CAI
at one time? When did TWA cancel that route?
I would like to know what other US airline(s)
had CAI in their schedule at one time or another
apart from TWA and PanAm in the 70's and 80's.
Thanks.
Kindest regards.

According to an MS spokesman the Karachi route has been axed for various reasons including low loads which made the service commercially not feasible, the situation in the region is another which prompted the decision, I t6hink it measn the route is gone for good. Egypt Air flew into KHI twice weekly Mon and Fri, via Dubai with the A300-600 Sad

Advancedkid:

The recent-last US carrier which served the JFK-CAI was Delta. In accord with AMR Corp the new TWA owner, TWA will suspend the flights to Cairo on September 30.
In the '70 and '80 only TWA and Pan Am had services to Egypt.

Regards, form Chile.

There will be difficult times for a number of airlines. My company has prohibited me (and 100,000 colleagues in 100+ countries) to travel to and from the following countries:

Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, U.A.E, Uzbekistan, and Yemen.

(Wonder when Afghanistan will be added to the list).

Wonder how many companies did the same. And how many tourists are booking flights to these countries right now.
Always keep your number of landings equal to your number of take-offs
