Tom Clancy Scenario - How To Preven Foreign Planes

Thu Sep 27, 2001 8:22 am

Tom Clancy scenario - how to preven foreign planes from deliberately crashing into important US buildings?

If any of you read "Executive Orders" by author Tom Clancy, then you know what I'm talking about... (a JAL pilot crashed into the U.S. Capitol deliberately, eliminating every member of the U.S. governement, except Jack Ryan, who became the president)

Are there safeguards agains foreign airline pilots from doing what the terrorists did on 9/11? Obviously when the flight originated from overseas(Europe or Asia), it has little fuel left and can only cause smaller damages... It seems like all the attention in improving security has been directed at domestin U.S. airline opereation.

That scenario you are talking about came from 'Debt of Honor'. Executive Orders was about the bio-terrorism from Iran which infected the US with the Ebola virus.

I shouldn't have opened this thread. I was planning to read "Executive orders" and "Debt of Honor". I guess I'll have to find something else to read...  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

The obvious:

Fighters or SAM batteries around important cities.

Move airports away from major cities, and close ones that are close by, like DCA.

Note that most foreign carrier security was (And is still) much better than the US domestic security, even after 9/11.

No, the JAL crash was at the VERY END of Debt of Honor. Executive Orders opens IMMEDIATELY AFTER the crash.

Ebola Virus was Rainbow Six....

Actually once you secure against the planes, you have another problem...

Clive Cussler's new novel has a giant Liquid Natural Gas supertanker running aground at full speed into lower Manhattan and exploding right at (what was) the World Trade Center.

Spooky.
