Each Aircraft's Longest Current Route

Thu Sep 27, 2001 12:19 pm

I just wanted to compile a list of the longest current roundtrip routes for all commercial aircraft types. If possible please include the airline and the distance in nautical miles as well. The ones I know of are:

CO 777-200er EWR-HKG 7008nm
CO 767-400er EWR-HNL (In a few days) 4312nm

Please add whatever you can. Thanks a lot.

Is LAX-MEL longer than LAX-SYD, if it is, then QF only operates that, UA goes via AKL to LAX from MEL

For MD-11 I think it is MXP-EZE (Alitalia)

I just thought I'd point out that ATL-JNB is only one way. The longest 744 roundtrip may be United JFK-HKG. Although I think that route was recently cancelled.

LAX-MEL non-stop (QANTAS only now), is definetely longer than LAX-SYD (considering MEL is another 800kms south of Syd).

I think UA's ORD-HKG is longer than any LA-Australia routes. This is on a 744.

Look Again At...

...TOMASKEMPNER's post. PTY-EZE is 2879 nm, and I doubt that any North American 737 can beat that. ATL-JNB is the longest-ever nonstop (measured direct, at least). CUN-EZE is 3710 nm; CO's CLE-LGW 757 is 3269. MAD-EZE is 5432 nm, which is longer than MXP-SFO. And the MD11 does 6036 nm MXP-EZE (JFK-NRT is 5861, ATL-NRT is 5953).

So four "longest routes" end at Buenos Aires. Hm.
