Lights Out At Buffalo Niagara

Thu Sep 27, 2001 12:39 pm

Oh boy there is a power faliure at Buffalo Niagara International Airport.. looks like a transformer went bloey and thus no lights .. Planes are still arriving with the Terminal using backup power, what fun it must be to arrive in a almost dark airport. By the way are there any other "International" airports out there without any international flights or are we here in the little B just plain goofy.

Wow. That's a shocker. Buffalo does not even have flights to Canada (well, AC does not fly to BUF)? But, no, BIA is not the only non-international airport with international in it's name.

If you've got backup power on now there, it sounds like you're on generator power, and hopefully, it is connected to a different service, or at least a different feeder, than the main commercial line.

Hopefully, the airfield wasn't affected, or else your airfield electricians/ops people/ fireemen will be out there setting up temporary lights one-by-one. A pain to say the least, I know, I've done it.
