The MD-88 is also operated by Iberia (whoe took over Aviaco). Remember the unducted fan tests of the late '80's? The MD-88 was the MD-80 version earmarked for possible UDF re-engining.
Incidently, the first few (3 I think) MD-88's delivered to Delta were delivered as MD-82's and upgraded to -88 soon after the -88 was certified.
2-3 or 3-2....doesn't matter to me....still more comfortable than 3-3.
I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.
