What Was The Longest Flight You Had?

Mon Oct 01, 2001 4:32 pm

I have a question....
If You were on a Transatlantic route numerously, SAME DESTINATIONS, different aircraft, have you noticed the differences between the flight time? Or if you don't have any, what was the longest flight that you ever had?

Over 12 hours nonstop from Amsterdam to Singapore.

When you count longest traveltime from point of departure to point of arrival, I'd say DPS - SIN - ZRH - AMS (22 hours).

I have done LAX-HKG three times, SFO-SYD two times. and Tokyo Narita-Los Angeles two times as well.

LAX-HKG all 747-400's Flying times were 14 hours 26 minutes, 14 hours and 43 minutes and 14 hours and 50 minutes

SFO-SYD first time was 14 hours and 33 minutes. this past june the flight was supposed to be 14 hours and 20. however we took a 50 minute diversion to Brisbane Australia thus making my longest flight ever of 15 hours and 10 minutes

NRT-LAX 9 hours and 10 minutes, 9 hours and 18 minutes. those were both pretty close in timings for sure!

Hope this helps!

Cheers!

I flew with El Al 3 times to NYC and back (both EWR and JFK) in the last 3 years;

LY001 (like my name...), Summer of 98', it took 11.00 hours by a 742 (4X-AXQ).

LY001, Summer of 00', it took 11.20 hours by a 744 (4X-ELC).

And Last July, LY019, took 11.30 hours by a 772 (4X-ECA), we had to wait 10 min' in the air before landing in EWR due to traffic.

On the way back:
EWR-TLV, July 98', LY018, 744, only 9 hours!!!
JFK-TLV, Aug 00', LY022, 744, 9.15 hours.
JFK-TLV, July 01', LY014, 744, 9.25 hours.

My longest flight was 13hrs 29 min (from take-off to touch-down) from FRA to EZE on a Lufthansa Boeing 747-430 (SCD), Reg. D-ABTE. In EZE we had 12,2 t remainig fuel 12,2 t and a landing weight of 232 t.
I noted this as I was invited to the flight-deck for landing (happy times).

LHR-OSA Airbourne time 14hrs 30mins, I don't keep block times.
This was when BA didn't have enough slots from the Russians to fly across Siberia, it used to route the Osaka flights up over Alaska:

To B737-700:

Were you also flying Lufthansa to EZE, or was it another airline?
I must admit that Lufthansa had a very air-minded and air-enthusiast-friendly attitude when it came to inviting passengers into the cockpit. I have been several times in the cockpit of LH's 747 during landing, but the Buenos Aires approach was very particular as it was during the early morning hours in darkness.

 Big thumbs up

Sadly enough those things will be over for a very long time after the deliberate crashing of the airliners in the U.S.

My longest flight was from STR via CDG and LAX to PPT (24h15 block time) and back (23H10). Yes, the B747-400 of Air France was significantly faster than AOM-Air Liberté's A340-300 that left LAX just before us.

To D-AQUI :

I flew Air France to EZE so I was in the cockpit on a 777 for landing in EZE.
I've had good experiences with Lufthansa as well. Several landings and one take-off in the cockpit. That were really fun times.

Mine was in August -99

VAA-ARN-CPH-BKK-HKG. SAS MD-80 first two segments,
Thai 744 third and Thai 772 last to HKG.
Total flying time was 17 hrs.

I planned joining the small group of people flying over both poles next year...If I can cough up oh 7500 US$..
www.over-both-poles.com

Expected total flying time is 45hrs 56mns...with a 744.

Kuala Lumpur to LAX, June 3, 1998.
It was about 4 hours to Taipei, where we stopped for more pax, and then headed across the big pond, another 11 hours to LA. Almost empty aircraft, great service-didn't really feel so long.
Emotionally the longest flight I ever had was a turboprop ride from JFK to BOS in a really nasty gale, Christmas-ish 1994. Everybody was so sick from the plane getting violently spanked around that they were puking, except for me who was too scared to vomit.
Only an hour and twenty minutes, but definitely the longest flight of my life!!!
It is not enough to be rude; one must also be incorrect.

SFO-HKG on SQ 1. 14:30 I think.
This flight leaves really late, 11:50PM or 1:50AM depend on the season and it's a night flight. So I had a little snack and went to sleep for 7-8 hours.

I usually continue on SQ 1 to SIN and catch another SQ to BKK and another TG to
my final destination PHS in Thailand.
Total trip time is usually over 26 hours depends what connection flight I can get
that day.

The worse part of the trip is usually a few hours layover in BKK waiting for TG domestic connection. It's not that fun after 20+ flights from SFO.

On the next trip, I'll try switch plane in HKG. Instead of doing SQ through SIN, I'll do TG from HKG to BKK. That should save about 4-5 hours and I will have shorter layover for domestic connection in BKK.

SQ 24 SIN-AMS summertime 12 hours 30 minutes, winter 13 hours 45 minutes.

SQ 25 JFK-FRA 5 hours 30 minutes, another one at 6 hours 35 minutes.

My longest was probably on SR, a DC-8-30 scheduled for JFK to Zurich. However, after circling we were diverted to Germany (Frankfurt, I believe). As the flight was some 35 years ago, I do not remember how long it was, but the flight back to ZRH was probably my shortest!

Again, in the time before ultra-long-range widebodies, I flew from Bombay to New York on an Air India 707-437, with stops in Beirut, Prague, and Paris. Some 24 hours on the same plane (and a beautiful plane it was!), albeit nonstop. There was no inflight entertainment for this 7-year-old, but who needed it with all those interesting stops? I was never bored.

The longest flight I ever flew was SFO-HKG on a UA (ex-PA) 747SP. Because the plane had to make a fuel stop at TPE, the total time of flight including fuel stop was 16 hours 5 minutes. It didn't help the seats weren't that comfortable, either.

13 hours 45minutes doing LHR-SIN, i think it might've been longer as we had to go further north over India into China because of a Hurricane, so it was probably 14 hours 20 minutes.

Apart from that, BKK-LHR about 13 hours and SYD-BKK about 9 hours 30 minutes Big grin

Yes! No question that the AZ B742 (several years ago) on JFK-FCO was quicker than the B763 that DL uses today...

On a military Chartered Miami Air 727...
Prince Sultan AB to Crete
Crete to Frankfurt
Frankfurt to Keflavik, Iceland
Keflavik to Gander
Gander to Dayton, OH
Dayton to El Paso, TX

Each leg was 3 1/2 hours or so, no entertainment, and murderous seat pitch. At every stop we got to get out for an hour to 1 1/2 hours, except for Dayton. without the stops it was something like 21 hours flying. with the stops it took 28 hours.
