UAL Doesn't Know Who Piloted A Flight?

Mon Oct 01, 2001 10:49 pm

The New York Times has followed up on the story of the pilot of Flight 564 (9/15/2001) who reportedly announce to the passengers to take control of any hijacking situation. UAL first denying that there was such flight that day, now says that there was such flight. However, they can't find who the pilot was.

This is getting strange. In addition, other pilots copied or paraphrased that message in their announcements, believing the story was true.

So, what's going on with UAL? Were they pulling a PR stunt? Or are they protecting the captain/fo who came up with this?

The original thread in this forum about this pilot is at:

I can't remember what news magazine this was on (Dateline, 20/20, 60 Minutes) but two of the passengers on Flight 564 were interviewed and they confirmed the story.
