Aviation Employees - How're You Feeling?

Wed Oct 03, 2001 1:42 pm

With all that is going on everywhere in the aviation world, it would be interesting to hear from employees in aviation and aviation-related industries. What are your thoughts about where you see things going for your employer and for yourself? What kind of impact is this having on your personal lives?

We hear enough about the business/shareholder angle. We hear enough about parked planes and route cuts. We hear enough about politics. We need to hear from the people who keep these planes in the air. How do you feel? What are you thinking?

well I am a little annoyed because I am going to school for my A & P licenses(got the P already) and was hoping to transfer to aircraft maintenance at Continental. Now it looks like that won't be happening anytime soon. I'll be stuck on the ramp for a little while longer. I am kinda kicking myself in the butt right now because I turned down a job with my local police department so i could finish school. At least any law enforcement jobs should be secure these days. Now I just have to wait until they hire again to get called back. Definitely going to take it next time. I'll wait until things in the aviation go back to normal to pursue anything where I can use my tickets. But hey, I gotta look at the bright side, at least I still have my ramp job with Continental. I am very grateful for that because I know so many of my co workers lost theirs.

Try this out. Some airlines are firing their people and not laying them off. How would you like to be that guy.
This business sucks right now.

Imagine being at a company that laid off pilots then calls those that remain to do over-time. Right (f**k you, I'm at the bar with those you fired).

I hope that flights get cancled at these times just so that mgt. might see some kick in the ass to get everyone back. They went too far. Don't call someone Oct. 1 and try to get them to fly one last trip. F**k you and your bonus that you haven't given up yet. We do this because we love it and despite poeple like you and the stock holders who just look at the botom line.
