VS To Use 343 On BOS-LHR

Fri Oct 05, 2001 6:11 am

According to the schedules, when Virgin Atlantic switched Boston-Gatwick to Heathrow, the plane will also change from the current 742/744 mix to a daily 343.

I do not know what to think. I prefer Gatwick over Heathrow and I was slightly disappointed with the airport switch although I know it is better for the company. And now switching to A343 just when the B744 got introduced. I hope it is only for the winter schedule. Let's hope that during summer time we will have TWO Virgin Atlantic daily flights to Boston. One on B744 and the other one on A343 or A360  Smile. Is that wishful thinking?
Singapore_Air: Why a reduction in capacity is a good thing?

Regards.

I think the A343 is certainly fine for Boston and for this route. After all, Virgin used to fly its oldest 747 (Spirit
of Sir Freddie, a 747-100) regularly into Boston until it
was scrapped in January 2000.

The Virgin A340's are nice aircraft and I am glad VS
has chosen to fly this route from Heathrow. Gatwick
is a great airport, but placing the flight out of LHR
makes it that much more competitive with BA, UA,
and AA, which fly the route too.
