Cool Airline Advertisment

Sun Oct 07, 2001 5:16 pm

The other day I was driving through downtown Kansas City and saw the coolest billboard I have ever seen, and it just happened to be for Vanguard.

It was announcing Vanguard's service from MCI to AUS and it said "Let's show our friends in Texas how to barbeque."

Well since six of the fourteen people in my department at work are from the metroplex and three more are from Kansas City, you can believe I got that one going.  Smile

Any other cool ad campaigns like that come to mind?

Not so much cool as downright nasty. Here's an excerpt from a bigger article about sex in advertising.

Blow Me!

Ryanair have had their bums smacked by the Advertising Standards Authority.   They've gone too far..  No, they haven't suddenly won a new flight route to Australia, but they have seriously offended 3 members of the public with their latest advert.

Ryanair offered two return flights for £69 in the regional press under the headlines "Blow Me! (These fares are hard to swallow!) and "Satisfaction Guaranteed!"

Each advert featured two pairs of feet, one pair on top of the other. I wish I'd seen them.  Of the people who did have that pleasure, three miserable sods complained.

Seeing Red:  What really pisses me off is that in order to see the sexy side of phrases like 69, hard to swallow and satisfaction guaranteed they have to have as 'so-called' dirty a mind as the genius who dreamt up the ad in the first place!!!

The Advertising Standards Authority considered the innuendos about oral sex likely to cause "serious or widespread offence" and asked Ryanair not to repeat the campaign.

Ryanair said the advertisements were published to coincide with Valentine's Day, which was a celebration of relationships, and were intended to be humorous within that context.  Good on you Ryanair. And to the 3 prudes who complained I can only say  go get a sexlife!!!

LOL!  Smile

I bet the people who complained about the Ryanair ad are the same ones that came up with the NC-17 movie rating here in the states. If you don't know what this rating is, scroll down until you see it at

Airlines Varig and Viasa together launched a new airline called VIAGRA their motto was "we give airlines stiff competition." with the word "stiff" emphisised. I read this from Airliner World magazine. As seen sex used in ads is very effective.

1) VIAGRA not real.

2) I thought it was VIASA and PANAGRA? Am I wrong?
