Cool, thanks, hope it stays to schedule. I'd much rather go to a nice new terminal, then that old shack they had.

Are they still going to have an open house?

Also, I have heard from a couple different people that with this new terminal may bring benifits to other airports and the aircraft they get.

Reason being? Something to do with paying extra money or not having enough room to overnite the usual aircraft at the terminal so they will be sent to overnite at other airports. Any thoughts?

Any word on when the "Sattelite" terminals B and C will open? Word is in Mesabaland that that building is to open later. Can't wait to see the new digs soon!!

Just flew out of DTW today on good ole Mesaba. Last Friday when I came in we taxied right around it and today we took off over it. Its come a long way. All the jet bridges are up, gate numbers, NW signs on the jet bridges, all paint lines on the ramp area look completed. The access road from the north has come a long way in a short time at the connection with the old roadway, but that looks like its going to be cutting it close with completion. I could kind of get a look inside the terminal through a giant construction hole in the one end, and it looks very nice, the interior, lighting, looked all complete. The most noticable things outside that need completing are some large areas of concrete that need to be poured in the ramp areas, and the electronic signage at the gates.

Just wondering if the B & C satellites aren't complete, where's Mesaba gonna operate from in the meantime?

There's no way the terminal will open on Jan 20 according to my sources who are contractors on the job. There is still lots of things to be completed which are not obvious yet significant such as electrical and baggage systems. Of course there will be unanticipated problems to deal with as well.
