I was just going to post something about the major expansion at YYC but you beat me to it.
Its pretty intense - a completely new pier with 11 new gates is on its way up. I was quite surprised on a trip out of YYC a few months ago to see it going up, and I'm not too sure if it is really needed at the moment. But, in any case, it will be needed in the long term so its all good, yeah yeahh...
Then, theres also the much needed parkade expansion, and the international processing facility. Unfortunately, needed almost as badly are the interior reno's of the existing terminal, which sound like they are a ways off. But at least they are planned, that 70s tile has got to go.
While I'm on the topic of expansion, there's some construction work going on at little old YLW, they are adding a second aircraft loading bridge to join the existing one, which still hasn't gone into service yet because of apron work at that position. Jetways seem a little overdue for an airport that handles more traffic than YXE and YQR, but Kelowna is a relatively new city that is only now catching up to its huge population growth. And I suspect they are expecting to receive Air Canada's LCC which will operate ex CP 737s, so the walkways will be in heavy use once the apron work is completed.
