B747-100/200/300/400/SP?

Thu Oct 11, 2001 8:47 pm

Hi everyone,

Wonder which version of the B747 do you prefer out of the 5 versions? Any reasons why? Mine would be the B747-400.

Hope to hear from you!

my vote goes to the 747-400, very graceful and engines much quiter, at least here the cabins are better equiped.

You know, I absolutely LOVE! the -400. Together with the 777 it's my favorite long-haul jet.

I must say however, that I got very lucky indeed a few years ago to fly from Tokyo Narita to Singapore on a United Airlines B747-100, complete with the 'three window' upper deck. I nearly peed in my pants from excitement when we were called for boarding and I saw that classic bird. The interior was brand new and immaculate, just like a -400. Flight was quiet and comfortable. I'm very happy that I had the chance to fly on a true classic like that.

My first 747 experience was on a KLM 747-206B-SUD (PH-BUU, 'Sir Frank Whittle') back in 1988. Also flew as a passenger in 1990 on KLM's PH-BUH from SIN-AMS. Interestingly, that aircraft has since been converted to a freighter!!

B747-300!!!
I remember on SQ's First Class...they had a very special configuration!!And i travelled on the BigTop to lots of places...especially to Frankfurt as it was one of the most memorable flight, and then continued to go to the U.S!And not many airlines operated the 743 or 743 Combi.SIA was one of them, and they operated the most B743 fleet i guess.Just have this feeling that B743 will always be my dream airliner! And SQ made lots of histories while using the Big Top!
Big Top!~

Best Regards

My vote goes to the SP! It is special and found in very limited numbers! Wish I could have one with the -400 cockpit and engines.....

I have never been onboard the 747 so I guess I'll have to base my decision on looks alone. I would have to say it is the 747-100 and 747-200

I have to say the -200, with the SP coming in second place  Smile The -300 and -400 versions are nice too, but for some reason the extended upper deck doesn't look quite right, the -100 and -200 series was the perfect size for me.

The 747-400, no question. It's bigger, more powerful, has longer range, and is quieter. How can you go wrong? Having only flown 744s and 742s, the 744 is where my preference lies. As the newest in the series, one would think its' the best yet....

I would also have to say that prefer flying on a 400 than a 100/200 or 300. I think most of the 400s have the latest aircraft technology offered used on them and are safer and some of them even have PTV's(for all classes) which is just great.

The -SP does it for me. Something about that 747 version just make me stop & stare at it for a long time.
I said this before & I'll say it again.....I certainly wish Boeing would re-start the -SP line again, only with the -400's upper deck, wings, engines & cockpit. Now that would be a hot-looking aircraft.  Wink/being sarcastic Regards.
