Sat Oct 13, 2001 1:49 pm

VIRGIN BLUE SCHEDULE UPDATE TO OFFER MORE FLIGHTS
-------------------------------------------------

Today, we’re bringing you news of further developments
in the Virgin Blue schedule, providing you with an even
greater range of flights to choose from when planning
your travel.

Highlights of the schedule changes, starting November 1
are as follows:

* A new daytime flight on the Brisbane/Townsville route
provides for convenient same day return travel, perfect
for business travellers.

* The Brisbane/Mt.Isa schedule is new and improved. You
can now fly during the day rather than through the
night.

* Three new Melbourne/Sydney, Sydney/Melbourne flights
means that you now have even greater choice and
flexibility, with 8 daily return flights on offer.

* New morning and evening services on the
Melbourne/Adelaide, Adelaide/Melbourne and
Adelaide/Sydney, Sydney/Adelaide routes provide for
convenient daily returns so you can get a full day of
business in and save on accommodation costs.

* From October 31, daily flights will operate between
Brisbane and Mackay, opening up your travel options to
Northern Queensland.

Aussie

A number of Virgin Blue pilots currently in Seattle
doing a converson course, the rumour is this is
a 757 course, could prove interesting.

There was the story reported that VB was trying to aquire 757 aircraft, i'm guessing leased so this kinda does back it up.

That's in addition to the 3-5 new 737s due by the end of the year I assume.

From what I gather, these schedule increases are 2 aircraft worth. So there's probably more to come.

I bet they want to make MEL-LST at least 2 daily, MEL-SYD could get even more and ADL-SYD needs to get more than 2x a day. I would say 3 or 4 at the minimum.

Aussie

As I have got it:

This coming week 1x737-800 (first operated in Aussie)
Nov 1x737-700
Dec 1x737-700
These aircraft are the ones expected from Boeing as
ordered.

The question is what else they can find to lease,
the F/A school is currently doubling their output,
so something is in the wind.

Are they expanding a bit too fast?? Like I know Ansett's capacity lost is a big reason but then there are numerous examples of no-frills airlines expanding too fast on exploding traffic demands and then fails.

Could this happen to DJ??

The demise of AN is definatley why AN is expanding and them recodring a profit in the first few months of operation. They seem pretty confident in making another profit and they will if they keep it right. They will probably stop expanding once they have got the aircraft they want and then see what their position is, if AN will survive and see how much capacity QF has dumped.

Excellent news for the BNE-TSV route. The extra capacity is really needed with Virgin Blue being a popular choice over Qantas and at one stage Ansett. The flight is to be a rather early morning flight leaving Brisbane at around 7:30am i think.

Air Taiwan too fast expansion I don't think so, Ansett have been down for a month and they are only increasing service on the new time table. I think they are taking there time.
Why fly non stop when you can connect
