I think WestJet is in the best financial shape.

Doing the best: Westjet. It's profitable, growing quickly and getting good reviews from its passengers.

Most attention: Air Canada. The news media loves drama, and AC has been a generous supplier of it.

Westjet's financial success is not exactly what it seems to be...and I think that it should take the cake for both the one that is doing the best and the one that is in the news the most...what most people don;t know is that WJ's success is largely based on the fact that they pay their employees next to nothing, and on top of that force all employees to buy a stake in the company, at the market price....But I will agree that they are in the best shape financially, but only because of the way that they run their business, and it will be impossible to maintain that success witht he addition of more employees...maybe a union, and added services ont he airplanes. On the same token the Westjet fad has also made them pretty much the most talked about airline in Canada in terms of the media, even stories about Air Canada or Canada 3000 have something to say about westjet.

Westjet Pay Scales

Sun Oct 14, 2001 4:33 am

Would anyone know what employees, such as, a Customer Service Rep. or Flight Attendant at Westjet would get paid compared to one at Air Canada?

Similarly, what would be the difference between someone at Southwest and one the majors in the U.S. be?

Even though WestJet employees get paid far less the ones that take the option to own shares (they're not forced to) do receive dividends which pay a handsome sum. This is one reason why WJ is so successful, the employees have an ownership stake in the company, so that all want the company to be as profitable as possible.

Also, despite getting paid less, the incredible employee morale at WJ is second to none. People actually ENJOY working there.
