Closing In On The 1000th 757.

Tue Oct 16, 2001 10:54 am

Greetings folks...
Just got my update from Bill Harms' website for October. And I noticed that Boeing has delivered 981 757s to date, with 67 more on order. The 1000th ship could be delivered before the year is out. Anyone here care to make an educated guess on which carrier gets the lucky number 1000? Also, which subtype do you think it might be...the -200 or -300 series? I don't think it's Delta, because all of their 757s have been delivered. My choices would be -300 for either ATA or Continental. Second best guess is a -200 for American. Any & all replys are welcome. Best regards.

Do you think Boeing 'plans' which airline will receive a milestone delivery, such as #1000 etc? Or is it just random?

Makes for some good press.....a 753 might provide a little free airtime for the 753.

Just wondering

I'm pretty sure the 1000th 757 has already been assigned to AA as a 757-223.

This was in part due to the fact that AA placed the order that put it over the 1000 mark and because they will have the largest 757 fleet at 124 aircraft when all outstanding orders are filled, not to mention plus the 27 752's acquired fro, TWA.

I have just seen the assignment of frame number 1000 in the new WAFN issue (October). But I cannot remember which airline it was...I guess AA.
