Load Factors Question

Wed Oct 17, 2001 1:06 pm

Are there any websites you can go to to find out what load factors are like or have recently been for US Airlines?

Try www.atwonline.com, go to ATW Stats Online, there are several selections. You can usually figure load factor (LF %) by dividing revenue passenger miles by available seat miles with in a period of time, month, week, day or year.

The load factor is the average percentage of seats that are filled for an airline, flight, market, or the industry averaged together (Ex. all airlines for a region together) with in a certain time parameter (Ex. month.)

The LF is used to gauge or forecast traffic results, and should not be soley used as an indicators to determine profitability. Other indicators should be used, such as ASM cost (available seat mile, cost) and RSM (Revenue per available seat mile.)

Hope this helps.
