I'm Back From Isreal!

Tue Jul 13, 1999 3:41 am

Isreal is the greatest, you have to go. If you go, try and get a room in the Hilton of Tel Aviv. The decks have a view of final approaches of 747s to TLV, and the beach has EXPRESS (props) landing on final to TLV.

EL AL is a really safe airline. In my other post, I told you about the passenger rage and the gaurd. They aask you a lot of security questions, and in BWI, there was an employee hired to walk around and spy people out. I knew because every time I un-zipped my bag, he would look. He had no bags, and at one point, some one called him on the walkie talkie, and he tried to ignore it. It was hilareouse!

Their 747-200s SUCK! The Flight attendants had attitude and the plane was ugly and old. The security was tight. The took these shuttle busses (like the kinds at IAD that go up and down and side to side) up to the doors of the EL AL chartered North American 738, took us out, and brought us right to the doors of the 742 sitting next to us. We never even got to go into the terminal!!!

Their 747-400s however were amazing. The flight attendnats where un-beliveably kinds, we had a choice in meals, our PTV's (in coach let me remind you!), and on the large TVs (and on channel 15) e had an INFO thingy. It showed you on a map how far you were with close ups and...

Altitude
Outside Temperature
The time at origin
Time at Destinatnion
Time until you arrive
Estimated Arrival Time
How many miles left

COEX's EMB-145 was really nice! And guess what? Next to our EMB145 was the "100th Jet! En Route to an oall jet fleet!". I only got 1 picture though =( .

North American (charter)s 737-800 had nice leather seats and was nice. The takeoff and landing were REALLY bumpy!

I highly recoemend COEX and EL AL!!! EL AL let me in the 744s cockpit when we landed and were at the gate in EWR!!!

About North American

Tue Jul 13, 1999 3:49 am

There is a cabin pic of a North American 737-700 here on Airliners.net. About the inflight service,
did they serve meals or just snacks? In that cabin picture it looks like they have meal service, because you can see the "Trolleys" or carts in the aft galley. Those leather seats look comfortable.

They are really comfortable seats. There was a meal service, and from what I hear from my family who didn't seel on the North American flight, a really nice hot one at that. I barely remember the flight. I made it a goal not to sleep a second of rest the night before so I couldsleep through the 10 hour YYZ-TLV flight. I couldn't even make it past the North American flight I was so tired. You should have seen me on the EL AL flight. I didn't sleep a second the night before, then took a sleeping pill, and drank a ful shot glass of Isreali (HEAVY) achocaul, not knowing what exactly it was (it tasted good, like orangetangy chocalate drink!). I was soo zonked out! he he he

RE: I'm Back From Isreal!

I got back on June 8th from Israel myself. I flew by Air France from Washington to Tel Aviv through Paris, a Boeing 777-200IGW from IAD-CDG -- WONDERFUL service and aircraft. Flew an A320 to TLV (five hours). Talking about great rooms, I stayed in Eilat (on the Red sea at the bottom of the Negev), Israel in the Le Meridien hotel which is located EXACTLY in the approach path for the Eilat airport which is in the middle of town. All day, we had Arkia Airlines 737-200s, Israir ATR-72s, and Arkia ATR-72-500s (even El Al and Transavia 757-200ERS) flying directly overhead (about fifty feet above the top of the hotel and my main window in the hotel) onto the runway. There were approach lights on top of the roof over my room. When we were on the beach we could watch the aircraft circle around and fly in over our hotel. Fabulous location, and the Red Sea and mountains around Eilat are really beautiful.
