Your Favorite Russian Airliner

Sat Oct 20, 2001 7:50 am

What is your favorite Russian airliner?
I like them all but I especially like the Tu134!
I like how the first seats up in the front have tables and are facing backwards. And I also like how the lavatories have windows. And visiting the cockpit looking down and seeing a person sitting in the nose is always amazing. What a great plane! I wish someday I could buy one and maybe start a regional airline.

MUST BE THE ILYUSHIN 76!!!

So much power, and it can break on such a short strips, and seeing them taking off at night with the glowing exhaust, the nice T-tail, the beautifull wings... Just a magnificent machine!!!

P.S.: An-124 not bad either, and the Il-96-300

Tango-Bravo, Russians do NOT copy westren plane designs! We had a discussion about this last week. The only plane Russia ever copied was The DC3 and called it the Li2 but that was okayed by the Douglas company.

IL-114....the world's largest turboprop.
TU-104....the world's 1st turbojet.

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

Don't forget the B-29. Boeing didn't approve that one, neither did the US government.

Regardless. The IL-18, IL-62, Tu-104 and Beriev anything are the cream of the crop in any nation.

Do you know that when Nikita Khruschev and his entourage landed in US for the first time in this plane, there weren't any airstairs that high enough to reach the airplane door.
