KLM Boeing 747-300 Status

Sun Oct 21, 2001 11:01 am

Hey guys. I was just wondering if any of KLM's purebred 747-300's, PH-BUU, PH-BUV and PH-BUW, are still in the KLM fleet or have any of them been retired?

Here is PH-BUU:

I sure hope all three of them are still in the fleet, because I luuuvvvvv KLM's 747-300's. I think the 743 looks best in KLM livery. I sure hope that none of KLM's pure 743's are retired. I could care less about all of those converted 742's that KLM had. Those were some old jets! But as far as the three that I have mentioned, I hope that they are still in the fleet! I will miss them when they are gone!

They are still in service, you can check the KLM fleet page for further information:

The KLM 743's are younger than the 742SUD's...so the 743's are likely to be replaced/retired at a later date.

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

Those converted SUD's maybe old, but KLM's engineering & maintenance standards are second to none.
The cockpits were modernised with LCD's, digital engine fuel monitoring, flight management systems and ACARS. I assume this removed the need for an E/O, anyone know for sure?

Thanks for the information guys! GDB, have KLM's 747SUD cockpits been installed with the right-angle vertical engine displays like those found on the pure 747-300's?

Here is the pure 743 cockpit:Notice the vertical engine displays.......
