Avianca / Aces

Mon Oct 22, 2001 7:53 am

Hi:

The Colombian Civil Aviation Agency on the last Wednesday has extended its deadline to rule on the proposed merger of the country two largest airlines saying it needed more information.

The agency, which had faced an 27 Oct. deadline to rule the merger, said it had asked the companies how they would divide airport facilities and flights routes if they were allowed to merge.

So, after the cancellation of the LHR route Avianca will only serve Madrid.
Avianca was in a finnacial crisis before the 11/09 so with the world crisis the Avianca's problems are more. So the merger with Aces is necesary!.
Maybe if the merge result the new airline ( I hope that the new airline will call Avianca) could add to Skyteam alliance, because the Sky Team needs a South American carrier.

The plan is for Avianca and aces to still run as two seperate airlines. Aces has made a nice name for themselves in Miami as the "buisness travelers" airline to Caracas, while Avianca is a favourite for "friends and family".
