757 Production

Wed Oct 24, 2001 6:41 am

How many 757-200 have been delivered, and how many more on firm order?

Also, how many hull losses has the type had?

I can think of these:

American - 2
AeroPeru - 1
1 off Dominican Republic
1 in China
United - 1

Any others?

Per the Boeing website, 987 752s have been ordered, with 959 of them being delivered. Per Bill Harms' website, there has been 7 752s written off. Regards.

I loathe looking at this picture, but there's comfort knowing this strong fuselage protected its' cargo during this unfortunate incident....no deaths from the crash (though I recall a later heart attack death directly attributed to the event.)

It's also important to note that , to the best of my knowledge and PLEASE correct me if im wrong, not one 757 hull loss can be attributed to the fault of the aircraft or its' systems. Remarkable record for twenty years of service. GREAT airplane.

Absoultely correct heavymetal. The 757 is one hell of a good aircraft.

The 757 accidents were (broadly) attributed to the following;
American/United - Terrorist Acts
Britannia - Weather
AeroPeru - Maintenance issue, static ports left covered on takeoff
Birgenair - Pilot took of with malfunctioning instrument, which he was aware of
American - Crew coordination and Nav database error?
CAAC - Hit on ground by hijacked 737
