I've seen an Alitalia MD-11 video when it's coming in for landing at Kai Tak and that was probably the worst and hardest landing I've ever seen, smoke everywhere and
the direction was not exactly straight forward either...
I would not like to have been any of those main bogies..
Big grin Big grin the movie was posted a few years ago, I don't remember where..

It was probably the same as on one of my kai tak videos, "last look at Kai Tak" had a really great Alitalia approach where he just really screwed up big time! Anyone else have this video?

Cheers!

Big deal. That's how I always land a heavy in FS2k!
Seriously, that's pretty neat. Is there a website that's completely dedicated to Kai Tak landing videos?

Amazing what a typo can do. Sorry guys.

Of the JPV, (or any other videos), is it worth getting them(Kai Tak only)? I am looking for a video that highlights the depth and breadth of the a/c curving on approach.

Your suggestions?

I have all the videos that you talk about LAX. its hard to narrow down which one i prefer. I think the final day at Kai Tak shows some great approaches, the Last look at Kai Tak has a wide variety, plus a cockpit landing in a virgin A340 which isnt to bad actually! And the harrys seem a bit dated to me but still got stuff in them! Final day at Kai Tak is a great video to give a little glimpse as to what it was like to photograph at Kai Tak! any more questions just ask!

Cheers!

Thanks Brian.....

I agree. I like the JP "Final Day" one too. It's not that the images on that one are any more or less great than others....but it's just the fact you KNOW it's July 5, 1998....THE LAST DAY. That makes it kind of special. And all the extra spotters out there too is interesting.

Have you got this one? ......

Do you have the 2 CLK's that are out there as well??

What's the run time on the average JP video? I'm thinking about ordering. I hope they're not like 20 mins only!

Kris  Smile

BTW---I have that Alitalia MD-11 video, but posting on a page is beyond my computer competence.  Nuts

Hi VonRichtofen.....

You can expect a full 2 hours [on avg.] of footage on a JPV video.
There are a few that only run 90 or 60 minutes, but not many.
The new DVD's run up to 4 hours, 11 minutes! (The Air Europe one is that long, on 2 discs.)
Other DVD's run from 2 hrs. to 3+ hrs.
Any other Q's, let me know.......

Hey, what's that Alitalia video you referred to? Got an address?

Thanks for the info!! The videos sound pretty sweet.
Is there any in particular you would reccomend?

As for the Alitalia MD-11 video. It's a short clip of a very hard landing at Kai Tak. I have it on my hard drive somewhere.

One last query. I watched the Kai TAk Final day video last night as I borrowed it from a friend.

So now I think I will purchase the St, Maarten video. Only, please tell me I wont be dissappointed. I like full frame views, not zooming in on registration or shooting through fences. Can I expect it to be good?

From what I understand, at St. Maarten, they shot it from a few different views, which is good.

Let me know. Thanks.

Hi again Mirrodie........

Yes, I think you'll approve of the JP SXM tape! ......

There's no peeping through the fence holes.
They got airside right beside the runway on some shots too!
Some very nice loud takeoff shots from this airside position!
There is 1 landing over the beach in particular [of an AF 747] that you'll want to replay several times......due to its incredibly LOW height coming over Maho!

Hey......If you like video with LOUD planes [like me], grab this one from Faro. Might not be available however; being "retired" by JPV [you can probably get it from http://www.airplaneshop.com ; that site says it's avail. now............

Let me know what you think.
And tell me which ones you get..... Smile
