SAS Longhaul Routes

I would like to know all of the SAS longhaul routes. Its for a prject, and also for the bare interest. If you just know a few, dont worry about not putting them dowmn

Note: All these flights are daily (or 6x/5x), since SAS tries to cater to business travellers.

SAS flyes today to:
- Newark
- Chicago
- Washington
- Seattle
- Bankgok
- Singapore
- Tokio
- Beijing
- Delhi (but I heard they want to dropp from January 2002)
- San Francisco (from spring/summer 2002)

They fly B767/300ER and A340/300, soon also A330/300.

Their flights use to leave from the main hub of CPH, but they also fly from ARN to EWR and ORD. The OSL-EWR route has been suspended till next year.
Singapore is via BKK.

SAS operates flight SK291 3 times weekly to Kangarlussuaq from Copenhagen (mon, wed, fri) with B767-300. Greenlandair operates twice weekly on the same route (tue, thu) and 3 times weekly to Narsarsuaq from Copenhagen (mon, wed, fri). All Greenlandair flights are with B757-200.

As for the rest SAS currently operates following routes:

SK901 Copenhagen - Newark (operated with BD A330-200)
SK903 Stockholm - Newark
SK907 Oslo - Newark (service to be cancelled)
SK911 Copenhagen - Newark
SK923 Copenhagen - Washington
SK937 Copenhagen - Seattle
SK943 Copenhagen - Chicago
SK945 Stockholm - Chicago
SK967 Copenhagen - Delhi (service to be cancelled)
SK973 Copenhagen - Bangkok - Singapore
SK983 Copenhagen - Tokyo
SK995 Copenhagen - Beijing

Hi,
I will be on SK 973 Nov 06 to SIN to attend the IATA Schedules Coordination Conference.
Yesterday I received a schedule change for this flight - arr time in SIN 20:45 iso 19:25, that is 1:20 mins longer flight time - I suspect a rather long detour around the warzone. Any confirmation ?

The CPH-BKK-SIN schedule always change at this time of year. It has partly to do with the change to 'wintertime' here in Scandinavia as we turn the clock one hour back while BKK/SIN does not do this. Furthermore there is a slight rerouting due to the Afghan crises right now. I guess both issues end up in the new ETA in SIN?!!

I hope SAS would fly to Hong Kong again...remember they use the B763ER old livery on the CPH-HKG route.Is there any sign SAS would every fly to Hong Kong again?

Finnair is going to fly to Hong Kong via BKK next year or in 2003 if I'm correct, great news but SAS should also fly to Hong Kong in their new livery with their A343!SAS's a great airline even after what happened in LIN!Remember while i was working in a cruise company in July, a SAS sales here in Hong Kong came to our company and said that they could offer discounts on their flights to Europe...but have to travel via BKK, not direct from Hong Kong.What a pity......

Finnair will commence HEL-BKK-HKG on february 16th 2002.Equipment will be their MD-11.
It's a pity SAS discontinued their service to HKG it would have been nice to fly with them!
But maybe in a few years maybe they start again who knows...
Last time I was there in 99 I had to use Thai, but next time I will fly SIA since their new 772:s are on the CPH-SIN route after december this year!

Finnair will start a new route between Hong Kong and Helsinki in February 2002. The new route will be operated via Bangkok three times a week.

First flight between Helsinki and Hong Kong starts: 7th february 2002.

Yeh 1st December...tell me if it was great flying on the B772ER's!

Well...Finnair will obviously use their MD-11's!Rite now it's the only plane that could fly that far!

Anyways, thanx for the info CFM-56 & MD!Though one says 16th, one says 7th!!No worries!

Maybe you're rite!
But somebody here told me that seats on the B772ERs are wider in both Business and Economy class...comparing with 2 class configurations B772s in Business and Economy!And I've never travelled on their B772ERs before, that's why!

can't believe this - since they know their schedules since the IATA SCC in June at SEA and the booking was done in July, they should publish the correct and coordinated schedules in the CRS- the changes came yesterday !!

hi again 9v-spk,

It is correct that the 772ER only have 2+2+2 seating in business compared to the 2+3+2 on the normal 772. However economy is 9 abreast in both so no difference there!

Hi,

I don´t know the reason but I can give you an example from the SIA timetables for the Copenhagen - Singapore route:

CPH dep 11:30 SIN arr 06:20 next day (March-October)
CPH dep 11:30 SIN arr 06:50 next day (October-March)

and as for SAS (though via BKK)

CPH dep 22:35 SIN arr 18:55 next day (March-October)
CPH dep 22:05 SIN arr 19:10 next day (October-March)

Since the 'wintertime' is turning the clock one hour back (extending the time zone difference by one hour) the route must have been altered as well since the schedule time change is only 30 mins. I hope you understand my point?! Anyway it is quite normal to have these differences in summer and winter schedule.

As far as I know, SAS stopped flying to HKG because it really was at the egde of the 767-300ER range and capability - They frequenctly had to fly with a reduced load.

Now that SAS is getting their A340's, I would not be surprised to see the route opened again, once the economy improves.

Hey TR,
I know that B772ERs had the 3-3-3 con. in Y, just that they have fewer seats than the normal B772s!ERs got 253 or 25x and normals got 29x.

But also if I'm right, the gallerys on the ERs are bigger.For long-haul flights i suppose!MAybe that's why seat numbers decreased, but maybe not the main reason.I'll try to figure it out later.

I guess both the cabin layout (galleys, lavatories etc) and the seat pitch is different on the 772ERs. When I look at the seat maps there is a difference but I know that seat maps are not always correct compared to the actual aircraft!

Totally different on both 2 configuration B772 and ERs.But yeh, seat maps aren't always correct, just like you mentioned.Maybe one day you and I should try flying Economy on SIN-CPH and a route operated by B772s to find out the difference!  Laugh out loud
