0248GMT Australia Flights Slashed
Services from Auckland to major Australian cities are the biggest casualty of the cutbacks.
The Auckland to Sydney route loses 19 flights from a total of 116, Auckland to Melbourne has 38 flights cut from the usual 116, and Auckland to Brisbane has its 68 scheduled flights slashed to 49.
Another big cut in November is a reduction to 18 flights from 30 on the Sydney to Los Angeles route.
Flights from Auckland to destinations including Hong Kong, Nagoya, Apia and Rarotonga are being cut by a lesser extent.
In addition, seat capacity on return services between Christchurch and major Australian cities has been reduced by replacing a Boeing 767 aircraft with a Boeing 737 on some flights.
France said Air New Zealand is maintaining a close watch on forward demand to ensure scheduled services offer an appropriate amount of capacity.
