767-200 Service @ SNA

Thu Jul 15, 1999 5:17 am

Do any airlines plan to start Boeing 767-200 to Orange County, California? Currently they are making the taxiway's wider to handle the 767-200.

I think United Airlines, American Airlines and Delta AirLines should start 767-200 service to Europe or South America. What do you think?

I think they should...I don't believe any airlines will operate the 767 into Santa Ana until the new airport (OCX) is built.

They are not making any of the taxi ways stronger or wider. The have been filing in the cracks recently. Also you would not to put customs some where. And that would make SNA a messed up place. I just wished that they flew 757-300 in there!

Actually, according to the SNA website, they have been making the taxiways larger just for the 767-200. http://www.ocair.com

I do have to disagree with the flights to Europe and S. America...SNA is a tiny airport, with many noise restrictions, so the airlines (none of whom actually have a hub at SNA to feed those ops.) should wait until OCX is finished.

They say that but I have not seen anythig being done to the taxiways recently. Or ever for a matter of fact!
About OCX I doubt that will be an airport. If it does it will be years away. There is so much disagreement it will never happen. Lots of airlines have said they will not fly out of it with the current flight plan. American for one and I think United have said it needs to be looked at!

Anyway...I am still hoping for OCX to become a reality (a great hub for my new airline!). The OC Board of Directors voted to go ahead with OCX while keeping SNA. http://www.eltoromdp.org/ is the OCX website...the search button produces many good links in the site! GO OCX!

Please can you tell me a bit more about your start up airline. I am very interested in things like this and would love to give you some suggestions and my opinions. I would not hub out of OCX because it will be hard enough starting an airline at a fully fuctional airport that is known rather then a brand new one that still has operating hurdles.

At the weights needed to fly to Europe or South America in a B767-200, it would not be able to get out of SNA, the runway is to short.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isnt SNA a Domestic Only airport? The 767 flights are a good idea, because the airlines can pack planes to Disneyland just with people from this board. However, isnt 5700 feet a little short with a loaded 767?
Create your own luck.
