God knows you can't put food on the table with only $100,000 income.  Big grin
I sure hope he didn't turn to robbery because of the Bay Area's ridiculous housing prices during the 'boom' times.

Money standards for ATCs were raised after the strike in the early 1980s. However, various positions make various earnings. $100,000 as an ATC is pretty damn good. A Class C ground controller will make around $28,000, or the same amount as a teacher. This dude must have been some hot rod. Probably a supervisor at a major facility. The most well paid ATC position is the supervisor of the TRACON and Centers at JFK and LAX who probably make around $120,000.
