BA's to Florida and the caribbean

10 seats across, ewwwwwwwwwwwww  Crying

Surprised people don't need a jemmy wrench to get out after 10 hours.

Some people jump to BA's defence saying these aren't operated by BA mainline, but the bottom line is that it's a BA aircraft inside and out; if they don't want bad press about them, they should re-fit them with the standard BA 9 seats across and also increase the pitch which is God-awful.

The most comfortable one could be Lauda Air´s B777 but I admit that I haven´t flown on it yet but heard some interesting trip reports.
Most uncomfortable one? Hmmm, doesn´t Emirates also have 10 seats per row in their Triple-Seven´s?

I read somewhere that Lauda's 777 are 10 seats per row at the back while 9 seats at the front?
Are there 2 levels of econamy class?
How better is the front seats from the back?
Do people that got the 10 seats per row were very upset about this?

I flew Lauda VIE-BKK-DPS-BKK-VIE on B772 and yes in the back of economy there are 10 seats, but there aren't two levels of economy class.
I tryed both the abreast and in fact I didn't find any difference in the seat comfort, but sure the aisle of the 9 seats sector is larger than the back.

Odd question, but how the hillside do you fit 10 seats into the rear of the supertube?

Oh, and am I the only person who find it impossible to sleep against the "wall" you're sitting in the window seat on the last row? It seems that there's some sort of gap that just throws the pillow from a to z.

I haven't experienced any uncomfortable B777 flights but have seen a number of trip reports saying Aeroflot's B777s are pleasing.

I agree with BlueShamu330s on that one.
I flew to Jamaica this summer on one of those AML leased BA planes. 3-4-3 layout in Traveller was well tight. Very narrow seats. (I decided to go Club World as I knew that the seats in Traveller were a bit poxy).

Fortunately BA have seen the light and AML won't be around for much longer and we'll get those aircraft reconfigured to something more humane.

Flew on the BA 777 with the 3-4-3 layout from Miami to London a couple of years ago, probably the most uncomfortable I have been in any aircraft (although tied with the 10 abreast seating on ATA's L1011's).

AA's 777-200ER is quite nice even thought its 2-5-2
the more legroom makes a big difference plus the cabin feels very airy and clean...business is also nice but Flagship Suite product is veryyyyyyyy nice its 1-2-1 abreast and you have your own suite and the seat swivels all the way around...great!!!!

The777man wrote a trip report about Aeroflot's 777s. He said they were very uncomfortable. I'm very interested th hear from him because he claims to have traveled with all airlines which operate 777s except Air Europa and El Al.

I flew on a 777 that had nails in the seats and the temperature control was turned up to 42 degrees Celsius.

Blueshammu, not Florida. Tampa. BA uses standard 744s to Orlando and four-class 744s to Miami.

UA, AA, DL and Aeroflot. I can't stand their damn 2x5x2 and 3x4x3! BA 777 with this is worse. Lauda and CO kicks ass!

I flew in the MIDDLE of an NWA DC-10 JFK-AMS-DEL and back! Such a horid expericience!!!!! Never again!!!!!!!!! I wonder what crack the CEOs of the first airlines I named we're smoking when they made this decision! Why the hell can't they go for a 3x3x3 or a 3x4x2! I would personally like a 2x3x2; but on a 777 that is a pipe dream.

Virgin- Delta has 'seen the light' and is changing their 777's over to 3-3-3 seating... though inlight of 9/11, unsure if they are continuing with the mods right now... hope they do.

I've only flown on a Delta 777. I have no complaints about the 2-5-2 seating, in fact I prefer it to 3-3-3. I do have a very HUGE complaint about the seat pitch though.

With the recent downturn in the aviation industry, I hope that airlines figure out that a good way of getting passengers back on their aircraft is to give them a bit more room. My flight back to London with DL was half empty (late September) and I'm sure this trend hasn't improved. Why not just take a ew (it doesn't have to be many when you think about it) rows of (empty) seats out!? It makes so much sense!

A lot of airlines seem to have 10 seats abreast in the 777, for example Laudaair, Emirates etc.
I don´t like that.
From my experience, the 9 abreast configs are better. Space does matter here.
Air France has nice 777-200, and also Delta.
I liked them best. (both airlines use 9 abreast in economy)

Compare the following:
Laudaair has 344 seats in their 777-200:
http://www.laudaair.com/d/ueberuns/flotte/777200_plan.asp
Air France has 270 seats on their 777.
That does make a difference. Espescially in economy.
I had some 11 hr flights on them in economy, every inch counts there.

AA's 777 fleet must have the fewest seats on board of any of the major airlines, particularly in the Pacific configuration. The First cabin is large, the Business cabin is extended, and MRTC makes even Coach tolerable, if not downright pleasant. Fewer seats equals more comfort.

For me it is CO the most uncomfortable of all the 777's I tried ( which means not many...).
I quite liked the UA ( especially because I can have the economy plus seats which make a HUGE difference in coach) Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Yes, the Aeroflot was the most uncomfortable because the seat was very hard and the service wasn't up to Western standards. I also prefer the 3-3-3 seating but the 10 across is not that bad, at least not on Emirates. The one annoying thing with Emirates is that the seats reclince a lot in economy so it gives you minimal room if the person in front reclines. Continental's seat were also somewhat uncomfortable in the beginning of the flight but then I got used to them. EgyptAir also didn't have much inflight entertainement and Kuwait Airways was lacking there as well. I thought American had little legroom but otherwise nice. I flew Delta in Business Elite so I can't say if they have little legroom in economy class, but I've heard that from other people. Delta are reconfiguring their 777s as already mentioned and hopefully they can put an extra half inch or inch of legroom. The777Man

Yes, Tampa is Florida. But so are Miami and Orlando, and they do not use the special leisure 772s (and TPA won't have them much longer either).

Nobody has mentioned Thai yet.

I flew 777-300 HS-TKB from Melbourne to Bangkok last year and it was the most uncomfortable flight I have ever been on. No legroom at all.

Not only that, the seat headrest was broken and I spent 9 hours with it flopping downwards on my shoulder. Blahh TG 777.

1979, L1011 TriStar 8abr Tourist BEAUTIFUL! CHARMING ATMOSPHERE!

EK Emirates! as quoted by photographer "generous legroom" what a terrible lie! Ten abreast in a tube less than 19ft wide? Terrible almost illeagal! We are human not cattle or bags of mail! we need our space lengthwise and widthwise. Iam not one who wants contoured clever "orthopedicially correct" seats with on demand entertainment and phones and stupid gadgets and footrests and wierd headrests and lots of buttons and levers to push and pull. what i want is music, nice atmosphere, resonably sized meal and an uncontoured flat Y class seat that is soft with reasonable legroom.
I cant say "thats all I want" but i find it a resonable request that is equal to all that crap, who needs "wings" on their seat and individual phones and all that other stuff when things can be pleasing and simple and airlines can still have almost even seating caps with possibly less compaints and angry passengers, get inspiration from the past.
Have a nice day thanx for reading my opinion.

Most comfortable...
Just my guess.
SQ B772ERs?SQ said they were improved economy seats, and comparing with the B772 2 class configuration, there are nearly 40 seats difference.

I'd like to try them if i ever get the chance, and make a comparison.

After reading a few of your posts now, I have to ask why it is that you hate Continental so much ?.

You commented on CO 777 being the most uncomfortable 777 out there, this is not a possible conclusion, I can certainly agree that it may not be the most comfortable one out there (although I do find it to be about as comfortable as they get), but comparing it to 2-5-2, or 3-4-3, and also comparing it to a lot of the 777's that dont have PTV on every seat, and a whole list of other statistics, I am left wondering if you have ever been on a CO 777 before, never mind any other 777 before.

Did anyone else find this a little odd ?

Jeremy

Artsyman, I made a huge mistake. I accidentally said that it was my least favorite, but it is MY FAVORITE. My username, N17085, is my favorite CO DC-10. I love CO and it is pretty much all that I fly. I didn't read the "UN" part in the topic. I thought that it said "The Most Comfortable 777." And in that marquee I had written as well "Is the best" but it messed up and didn't put it in. I am truly sorry. I love CO and I gave the wrong impression that I hated it. CO 777s are indeed the best. Warmest regards.
