2001: A Safe Year If There's No 9.11 Attack?

Tue Oct 30, 2001 1:04 am

Do you people think that 2001 is a "safe" year (no major crash) for civil aviation if the 9.11 terrorist attack didn't happen?

Before 9.11, I thought 2001 is a pretty safe year, because we don't have many major crash, except the Vladivostok Tu-154 crash and Sibair and SAS accident.

Um, these were all pretty major, if not as spectacular. 2001 will unfortunately go down as an Annus Horibilis for Aviation, and it wouldn't have been a particularly good year even without the Hijackings.

I agree with VirginFlyer, even other then september 11 incidents....it was a pretty bad year with those crashes that you have mentioned.Lets hope there are no more.

And we DID have the hijackings, it's somewhat hard to ignore them and pretend they didn't happen. It's like saying that the 1940s were peaceful if you discount World War II.
