US Non-hub Airports With Most VIP Clubs

Wed Oct 31, 2001 3:09 am

I find it interesting to note which airports have clubs and which don't. Obviously, hub airports have clubs for hub airline. But many non-hub and smaller airports have them as well. In some cases, the club is there because of a former hub presense (ie: AA club in RDU).

But my question is this: what non-hub airports hosts the most vip clubs and for which airlines? I'm not looking for international carriers, just domestic. And I am not looking for reciprocal agreements (ie: there is no NW club in LAS, even though NW flyers can use the HP room).

So here it goes. Airport followed by clubs: I'll suggest one.

BOS: CO, US, AA, (TW), UA, DL, NW

Los Angeles...easily. It's easier to name the carriers that don't have them!

Id say its safe to say that LAX is a hub for UA, thus that one is out...I have no idea though....

I don't recall UA listing LAX as a hub...I thought it was primarily for O&D traffic. I show their hubs as being DEN, ORD, MIA, IAD, and SFO.

Oh well...live and learn!

BOS also has clubs for VS and BA, and maybe LH.

BA has a special VIP club in MIA it is for people that want to pay tousands of $. You get picked up at your hotel and go to the club before the flight. They even have their own entrance.

MIA has clubs for just about every major airline. Also home to America's only British Airways Terrace Lounge.

Both SFO and ATL have them, actually.

Delta, Northwest, American, Alaska, TWA, Continental, US Airways, Japan Airlines, Air France, British Airways, Philippine Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Virgin Atlantic, and Singapore Airlines all have lounges at SFO and do not consider SFO a hub. I know I'm leaving some carriers out, but this is all the carriers I can think of off the top of my head.

LAX was christened a United hub in 1999. In the past two years, it had at one point seen over 180 mainline United flights.

It's hub status is no longer in jeopardy-- it is not even a hub anymore.  Sad

Before 09/11, United had an impressive 177 flts/day.
After 09/11, United had a 144.
Starting tomorrow, United will have 104

The result of the demise of Shuttle... although there will be 30 new RJ flights.

Sad times in Terminals 6, 7, and 8.  Sad

DeltaSFO, better tell British Airways that, because, according to their website, they don't. I think every US BA destination has some sort of club (excepet maybe Tampa), but only MIA has a Terrace Club.
