SQ006 Crash: 1 Year After

Thu Nov 01, 2001 12:37 am

About this exact time a year ago, I post the most shocking news ever: SQ006 crashed at Taipei during taking off. Sad

However, I didn't see any special memorial service from SIA. What's going on with SIA?

May these innocent people who died on SQ006 a year ago still rest in peace.

The memorial service was a private one, as requested by friends and relatives of the victims. No media coverage whatsoever is allowed.

Let us pray for the victims, and also pray that an accident does not occur today  Sad

To tell you the truth... I've heard lots of news that were more shocking than that... For example: 09/11 shocked me just a tad bit more than the SQ006 crash...

At least Taiwanese media will repot it, I think.

Taiwanese media are running out of news each day, except the election though.

It was 83 people actually. And please don't accuse anyone of being dumb or on drugs. Obviously someone does not share in our grief.

While I concur that the events of 9/11 were more "shocking" in an objective sense, we should take this opportunity to remember the victims of SQ006 and their families, rather than childly accusing people of being "dumb" or "on drugs."

It seems to me that Gyro was being sarcastic when he said that he was a "tad bit" more shocked at 9/11 events.

In any case, what's the deal with all the hostility that keeps popping up in this forum? Give it a rest.

And let's not forget the 217 people who were killed on Egypt Air Flight 990 on October 31, 1999.

And let's not forget the 68 people who diedon AA Flight 4184 on October 31, 1994.

May they all rest in peace.

Seems like October Halloween 31st is a very bad luck day for aviation. So I hope that no aircraft crashes today.
