Major World Airlines With PTVs.

Sun Nov 04, 2001 1:12 am

What major airlines in the world have PTVs on at least some of their aircraft? If they don't have them on all of their aircraft, which ones? These are all that I can am for sure about, but I know there are a ton more:

Some people don't believe Jet Blue is a Major Airline, but all of their aircract have 24 channels of Live TV.
Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Staten, Uptown, what now? Lets make it happen.

United has them on three-class 777s and 767s. These do mostly international service, but they also do domestic runs out of Denver, Miami, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dulles, and San Fran. American has them on all 777s and on all 3-Class A300s. USAirways has them on all A330s. Continental and Delta have them on all 777s. SAS has them on the A340 fleet, so does LanChile. british midland has them on thier A330s as well. I am only referring to airlines that have them in all classes.

No one has mentioned Virgin Atlantic, and they were the first! Emirates has them on all 777's and Airbus A330's. Gulf Air has them on A330's, and Air Mauritius has on their A340's. (I don't know about their 767's.) Also, Sri Lankan has them in all classes on everything except their A320's, and I hear that PIA has them on their 747-300. Oh, and let's not forget JAL, who is installing them on all 747-400's, and I believe ANA is doing the same. (Not on the 747-400D's, of course.) TG has PTV's on their 777's, and possibly the rest of the long-haul fleet, although I don't know for a fact. That's all I can think of for now.
Happy Flying,
Nick

Emirates was the first to install PTVs on all their aircraft in all classes. As mentioned in the previous message they are in their entire fleet - B777s, A330s, A300s and A310s.

Trans Element; MAS's PTVs

Sun Nov 04, 2001 8:35 pm

Yes, MAS do not have PTVs in their A330. This is because their A330 is quite old and I am not too sure if they are phasing out their aircraft soon, since they are going to have a lot of aircraft parked this coming Summer 2002 schedules. However, they only fly A330 to certain destinations in Asia, eg Osaka, Nagoya, Fukouka, Madras, Delhi, Male, Dhaka etc.

But if you are flying with MAS on long-haul, there is bound to be PTVs in the Economy. Only their B747-Combi does not have PTVs as all the other B747-400 passenger only version and B772 are all equipped with PTVs. Their B747-Combi is due to be phased out this February/March 2002. There are rumors that MAS is considering to replace their agin B737-400 with B737NG or the Airbus A320 family. But due to the economic situation, I don't think they are going to do so for a couple of years to come!

Regards.
