1) Why is the american flag on the right side of planes stuck on backwards. Im sure there is a simple reason, but I cannot figure it out.
2)All airliners have a standard number delineating the aircraft from others in its fleet i.e. 704AS 777AA, why, when communicating with ATC do they use flight numbers instead of the FAA issued number? Is this to make it easier for clearance delivery to 'remember' where planes are headed since flight numbers only change a few times a year? Maybe so that in case of a last minute dreaded mechanical or aircraft swap ATC would not have to change all the numbers in their system?
