Any Dash 8's Operating As Freighters?

Mon Nov 05, 2001 1:23 pm

Just wondering if anyone knows of any -8's being used as freighters or in a combi configuration.

I am aware that the atr 42 can be used in a freighter or combi mode, just curious since deHavilland is the competion that they would have the same mods???

You bet... both combi and freighter configurations are doable, I believe. The Bombardier webpage even mentions a fast conversion between pax and freight. I know AirNova have used them as combis on some of their Newfoundland routes.

Quad Otter,

Yes, Dash 8's can be used in freighter/combi configuration.
I don't know of any airlines that have them as freighters, but as AC183 mentioned, Air Nova has used them in combi configs.
We have had them as 21 pax combi's and 29 pax combi's, however, as of the changing to the winter sked, QK has opted not to have any -8's in combi configuration.
These combi's were very popular with the YYT-YYR-YWK and the YWK-YYR-YYT runs.

Air Creebec also has a Dash-8 combi used in Northern Ontario & Quebec.
