Anyone Flown On An AA 777 Lately?

Wed Nov 07, 2001 3:31 am

I was just hoping to get some general opinions on AA 777s, as I'm considering doing quite a bit of flying on them in the next month or so, specifically on the JFK-LHR route. How are the seats, what's the service like, how's the cabin interior? I realize these things vary from flight to flight, but I just wanted to get some basic ideas. Thanks a lot.

Regards.

Well since I work the JFK_LHR flight pretty frequently I can tell you that the B777 is a wonderful aircraft.. AA's
777 have the least number of seats than any other 777 in the world..thus making it a very spacious and comfortable environment....depending on the class of service you choose.....service is different...in first..you might be able to enjoy the trans-atlantic FlagshipSuite
which is absolutely devine.....Buz Class is great too...and Economy probably the most comfortable 777 in the sky....all in all a great airplane.....now service wise unfortunatley depends on the crew...as we all know some AA f/a arent too nice as i always read on the posts...as for me i take care of my passengers.....and hope they continue to fly AA...

I have traveled on 5 AA 777 flights in the last 5 weeks.
I want to know why is it that on the takeoff roll the plane shudders and shakes. It feels like the wheels are rolling on gravel, which I know they are not. What is all the shaking about?

In removing seats from aircraft, did AA also renew their interiors (in economy)? Or did they simply move around the old seats?

DC10@DFW, besides the shaking, how were your flights??

Thanks for the info Hpa318. Maybe I'll see you onboard in the near future.

I was just on one Sunday LAX-MIA. A wonderful flight. I was in coach. Service was snack-meal-drink. I chose roast beef. It came with a salad, potatoes, and pound cake. I was really impressed with AA and the 777. One powerful plane. Smooth flight, even thru part of the hurricane. Personal TVs even in coach. Comforable seats...Completly enjoyable.

The flights, SJC-TPE TPE-SJC ORD-NRT NRT-ORD ORD-DFW were wonderful. The Boeing 777 is a wonderful passenger friendly airliner. I love the wide cabin. It really makes the flight even more enjoyable.
AA's 777 arm rests in coach "suck". My elbows and arms constantly disrupted the PTV on both my seat and that next to me. Even when attempting to use a blanket or pillow, I sometimes caused the PTV controls to engage. Anyway, it was still wonderful. I love the air show display too.
I only wish that the 777 was as pretty on the outside as it is on the inside. Yes the engines are HUGE and quite impressive, yet, the plane has no special characteristic charm to itself. Now the DC-10, L-1011
and MD-11, those planes were LQQKERS!!  Smile

Yes, on August 21, 2001, i took the JFK to LHR run. I was quite impressed with the interior and it was so quiet and i made it to heathrow in record time for me. The food was great, i ate everything and the fa's very nice. I offered to fill out a customer service form but they were out.  Sad My only complaint is that the games didn't work on the personal video unit. I had to wait until my return trip on a A-300 to play chess.

I have flown on AA's 777s over the pacific several times in economy. The seats were fine. It was nice to have PTVs. The only thing I disliked about the seats was getting the middle seat in the middle section for one of the flights but there's not much you can do about that. Its great when your traveling with one other person and you get the two window seats.
The service and food, however, was typical of any U.S. based airline. Nowhere near the standard of the Asian airlines. I can't comment on how there service is on their transatlatic though.

You will enjoy the takeoff in the AA 777-200ER with those powerful RR Trent 892s.

Flew on one before MRTC, I hated it. Horrible leg room, AA's "old" MD-11s had much more room. I had a nice metal box at my feet giving me no leg room under the person's seat in front of me. The PTV was so close to my head that it hurt my eyes to watch, and AA doesn't have curse words in their movies. Apart form that it was an ok flight, except for I got severe sinus pain during decent (pain so bad i couldn't even tell the person next to me what was wrong!). I think what people say about the airquality in those planes is true, i have never had any other problems in a an airplane like i did decending into miami after a 9 hour flight from buenos aires with my head feeling like it would explode. I prefer the MD-11s but they are not here anymore and i am giving the tripe seven another chance this thanksgiving (although in the non Flagship Suite first class)

Barcardi, what route are you flying the 772 on this Thanksgiving, because if it is MIA-EZE, you will have Flagship Suites. Flagship Suites are used to Europe, Sao Paulo, and Buenos Aires (and between Miami and Los Angeles/Dallas).

I flew AA for long-haul flight between
ORD-NRT
DFW-NRT
NRT-DFW
SAN-JOSE(CALIFORNIA)-NRT

and all the time it was the best I experience in AA...

Cannot compare long-haul AA with
short flight AA it's totally different
they have lots of space, TV, very confortable... more space than Airbus 3xx
I had the chance of getting very nice services... if AA didn't offer theses beautiful flights... I wouldn't fly AA...

I am actually flying to chicago from dallas. Even though the 777 flys on to LHR, AA.com says there is no flagship suite on my flight?!?! I also get to try out AA's new 737-800s on my next leg to montreal!

Barcadi, I am guessing they probably just close off the flagship suite on this flight. I'm 99.9% certain they keep them open for the MIA-LAX flight, and I think MIA-DFW, but maybe not.

FlagshipSuite which is the 1-2-1 config..instead of the 2-2-2...is mostly on aircraft designated 77A for atlantic77P are pacific 2-2-2....usually youll get the FLAgshipsuite to LHR..depending on a/c rotation...
from JFk the morning LHR flight usually arrives from EZE-Buenos Aires, but now it comes from GRU-Sao Paulo..
the later flights usually turn from LHR or CDG....

my flight to ord will have the 2-2-2 seating, which is strange considering that this flight is an aircraft positioning flight for the ord-lhr flight (which should have 1-2-1 seating)
