Expansion Or Wait?

Thu Nov 08, 2001 2:38 pm

Dear all,

Since the air traffic (perhaps US only) is pretty quiet at the moment, should airlines expand their networks or wait and shrink their networks?

Let me explain a bit more. Some of you might think that Cathay Pacific is pretty slow in expanding their networks. What should they do now? Will Cathay Pacific considering flying back to mainland China? I can imagine the air traffic will be a lot different when China joins WTO some time next year (perhaps this December?). Hong Kong can be a very good hub too.

Singapore airline has a "huge" network. But now they have shrink their network...and what happen to heir "huge" and "strong" fleet? I guess they won't ground their planes.
