Hey all........

I wanted to know of all your experiences on Egypt Air.

Are they good? What is their safety like? Service?
I know they have very new aircraft like A340's and 777's I think.

they have cheap business class fares to Europe from Australia.

Also is there a website?

This probably, ain't gonna help, but I flew them from Nairobi (NBO) to Cairo on their old A300-600's. The service was fine- nothing really negative to report there.
I was even allowed to sit in with the drivers for the landing- and what struck me as interesting was that both pilots were british ex-RAF pilots!!

If you don't know their website, try searching for Egyptair on a search engine like Altavista.

Best Regards

My inlaws flew them SYD-SIN-Cairo-Munich-Franfurt and out of Malta back to SYD.

They were really not that fussed by them - but said that they were really quite OK, good food and they hand drinks out at the gate on the sectors in and out of Cairo.

Good pilots and they felt perfectly safe all the time. Give'm a go!!

I have never heard anything but good reports about Egyptair. By the way, they never flew Russian aircraft except for a few leased Il62s briefly, and those weren't even painted in MS colours. The MS abbreviation, by the way, stems from when they took the Arabic name for Egypt: Misr. Until the early 70s or so they were called Misrair (when they weren't United Arab Airlines, which was Misrair and Syrian Arab, when Egypt and Syria briefly united to become one country). Egyptair are a great airline with a long heritage but whoever said about them helping other arab airlines start up is wrong, the two main aviation pioneers in that area are Middle East Airlines and Gulf Air, and it was they who assisted Egyptair (and many others) not the other way round. As well as the fleet listed above (737, 767, 777, A300-600R, A320, A321, A340), they also have a couple of 747-300s which are used to New York, Los Angeles, sometimes London and Paris, and some of the Far East and Australian services when demand is high. Like I said, great airline, definitely good value if they're the cheapest cos there are far worse airlines flying between Australia and Europe - Malaysia, Olympic for instance are all crap when it comes to their Business Class product.
fly Saha Air 707s daily from Tehran's downtown Mehrabad to Mashhad, Kish Island and Ahwaz
