Show Of Hands .... Who Loves "Airliners" Magazine?

Fri Nov 09, 2001 3:09 pm

I really enjoy getting this magazine 6 times each year (only wish it were once EVERY month).

They consistently have well-written articles....and excellent photography.

Many of you subscribe to it too??

Also: Did anyone besides me take note of the absence of one of Airliners main columns in the last issue (Nov./Dec. '01)? The "Ask Airliners" two-page spread was cut out for some reason. Wonder how come. ???

Does anyone know if the magazine will focus at all on the September 11 attacks in the Jan./Feb. edition?
I see where "Airways" devoted a few pages to the disaster in its last issue, including pics of all 4 jetliners involved.

Ya, it's a good publication.

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

Excellent.. I buy it off the newsstand every while and then...

But I think Airways is better, I'm suscribed to that magazine, and it's very consistent and impartial to the people they interview. They are not afraid (I'm not saying airliner is) to dig the crap on an airline after they accept invitations for interviews with reps.

Their articles are sometimes hilariously aggressive! Like the November issue with the article entitled "Dumb and Dumber" which is essentially a 4 page article incensing at first CEO's like Southwest's, Westjet's, and Jetblue's then using this as a slingshot to the worst CEO bashing I've ever read. This review steps in and kicks the s**t out of Mr. Gangwal and Mr. Wolf, the two clowns who are (supposedly) at the control of US air. It lasts 3 pages !!!

A great article!

I have had photos in Airliners as I work with a writer(who is a friend of mine) and we do articles for the mag. I think that the quality of photos and printing of Airways has gone downhill. I don't know if Jon(Proctor) will focus on 9/11 at all, but there are some good articles coming out in the next two issues! I think that Airliner World is better than Airways but not as good as Airliners. Airliner World beat both Airways and Airliners to the 9/11 deal. See ya later boys....

Airliner World is best. Airliners (the mag in question) is good and I buy every issue, but there are a lot of articles about propeller planes and the quality of the artwork and layout is amateur hour compared to the other two (Airliner World and Airways), plus there's only 6 issues a year so they're usually last with news and liveries.

Hi!

I buy the 3 ones ( Airliner World, Airways and Airliners ), I think all of them have great standards, but there are some features in each one that I like, for example the "Tales from the ramp" from Tony Vasko are very good, I also like the deep articles about airliners from Airliners, like the 707 one, 720, Caravelle all of theme where excelent and Jon Proctor is a great guy! About news and reports about any region of the world I think Airliners World is very good on that too.

Airliner World being european publication has longer articles. Airlines has shorter, more condense ones. I love both formats. I would like to see

1. Airlines adding more articles, more content (in present format)

2. Airliner World dropping overseas subscription premium.

Airliner World seems to be more open to article ideas. All the articles I have done or helped do, have always been accepted, never rejected. All my ides have been accepted also, Airliners is not as open, but the printing and qaulity of photos is great just like Airliner World.

This seems like a good place to recognize Jon Proctor, editor of "Airliners," for an outstanding job with the magazine and also for his decades of behind-the-scenes contributions to airline/airliner enthusiasts.

I love Airliners. I have the very first copy with the smiling PSA MD-80 on the cover. It is my favorite issue.

I have subscribed to both Airliners and Airways since day one of each magazine. Of those two, Airliners has always been a better, more complete and interesting magazine to me. I too, think Airways has slipped in the past couple of years, although I will always subscribe.

As for Airliner World, that magazine has really gotten better, although they could use some newer pictures of the airports they show (see current issue with AMS photo). To me, they have surpassed Airways for second place among the three.
