Chicago O'Hare

Sat Nov 10, 2001 3:01 pm

ORD has lost a lot of international airlines since the attacks on the U.S. Will these airlines start there service back up in the summer if air traffic improves? The airlines they have lost or the airlines that cut service are ( Virgin Atlantic, Sabena, Aeroflot, Turkish, Singapore, ANA)

Singapore is a suspension only. Austrian is also a suspension (through 30Mar02), though when they will resume ORD (MIA, YYZ too) is unkown. ANA is calling it a suspension, and will decide what to do with ORD again in the before 30Mar02.

you forgot Air India. Aeroflot wanted to stop service even before the 9/11 attacks. Singapore is coming back in the springs, and so is Aeroflot. That is all i know. My grandma was on the last ORD-SVO flight on October 23 and they were saying service would restart in late March. I dont know when Singapore is coming back.

but as an addition Sun Country has added a ORD-LAS route and American will operate 757s to Jackson Hole this winter.

life wasn't worth the balance, or the crumpled paper it was written on

Will Sun Country use there 737 on any of the ORD routes or will they still use the 727. I know here in MKE they use there 737 on MKE-LAS, and MKE-MCO and Im not sure about the other Florida destionations from MKE.

Will Singapore likely use there 777-200 or could they possibly use a 744?

Air India, ANA and Turkish suspensions are news to me. Did I miss the news? I only say this because they all flew into ORD yesterday. And I thought the suspension of ANA flights is only by flight#, as the ORD and IAD flights have been combined into one flight. And Austrian? Also, news to me.

BTW, SQ suspension doesn't start until mid-Jan. Enjoy their Trips' while you can.

Same as what i thought, Sin777ER!

I checked that becasue of the launch for SIN-AMS-ORD, so many SQ flights had to change their stops!

But i guess B772ERs a good choice, B744 is too big for the time-being.And the B772ERs have only 2-class, and Chicago is a buiness city i should say.B744 would also be an optional choice.

Best Regards

ANA Suspends Narita-Chicago Flights, Resumes Washington, D.C. Direct Service & Expands Asian Routes

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tokyo, November 9, 2001 — All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan's largest airline, today said it would suspend its daily flights between Tokyo and Chicago on November 30 as it continues to consolidate its international passenger services.

ANA has operated Tokyo-Chicago non-stop service since April 1999.

On November 1, ANA merged its daily services to Chicago and Washington, D.C. into a single flight using a Boeing 747-400. On November 30 ANA will resume daily non-stop service to Washington, D.C, from Tokyo with a 233-seat Boeing 777-200ER.

All other ANA services from Japan to the U.S. will continue, with 37 non-stop flights per week to New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington, D.C. and Honolulu.

The suspension of Chicago service will be in effect until March 30, 2002. A decision about resuming the service thereafter will be made early in 2002. ANA will continue code-share flights between Tokyo and Chicago with United Airlines, its Star Alliance partner.

"There has been a significant decline in demand between Japan and the U.S. after the tragic events of September 11," said Mr. Yoji Ohashi, President and CEO of ANA.
