New Airline In Switzerland:Intersky!

Sat Nov 10, 2001 11:49 pm

Hello

There will be a new airline in Switzerland next year named Intersky which is based in Swiss capital Bern-Belp. They will start in March with a single Dash-8-300 (50 seats). They plan to start flights between Bern and Berlin-Tempelhof (2 daily) and between Bern and Vienna (1 daily).

Do you guys have more info on this airline?
After all the bad news in (Swiss) aviation it's great to hear that there will be new airlines and new jobs.

With kind regards,

Great news! They are competing against Swisswings which is also based in Bern, right? Hm, maybe Bern will soon start to see many more operations and might need expansion soon to support larger aircraft. Would be interesting.

Does this new airline have any partners yet? Or will it start out very small and expand time by time?

Yes, good news indeed. I think right now Bern needs some more destinations than what they have at the moment.
A possible partner could be Austrian Airlines/Tyrolean/Star Alliance. I think Tyrolean stopped their BRN-VIE flight this year?!

Also interesting is that Intersky's CEO will be the wife of the Rheintalflug-founder. But then, why does not Rheintalflug expand into BRN? Why would they found a new airline?

I think they should fly as a feeder from BRN to FRA and VIE (for Star alliance) and fly on routes that people from the Bern region fill such as the Berlin route.

Anyway, I wish them good luck!

To my best knowledge this airline has been founded by the same people which had started austrian carrier Rheintalflug. The single Dash 8-300 will be apparently a former Rheintalflug one.

BTW, how is Swisswings now doing? They should profitate from SR´s problems.

I think Swisswings is doing quite well. They expect a profit for 2002.
